Did some body / bondo blending of some imperfections on the flat black area of left & right side air intake panels where some of the outer carbon fiber delaminated from the polystyrene.

Decided to make internal modifications to the dual mufflers. Been driving the RT for over a year now and I have always had excessive backfiring when suddenly releasing the throttle. The 2 mufflers I had purchased have a large 4" open chamber with damping ports and insulation around the perimeter to absorb the some of the combustion detonation sound. The original 600cc motorcycle had a single exhaust with 2 outlet ports. My goal was to reduce the backfiring and the overall decibel level of the exhaust, I would like to hear the traffic better, my stereo & maybe not wake up the neighbors when I head out to a car show at 7am! I looked at some internal aftermarket muffler silencers available and fabricated a similar design. Starting with 2" O.D. x 8" lg. x .040 wall stainless tubing, I drilled a series of 3/8" holes 3/4" apart around the perimeter of the tubing. Then made a cross mount bracket that supports the baffle from the outer end of the muffler. The tubing was then wrapped with approx. 6 layers of high temperature rated fiberglass cloth. Finally Stainless wire is wrapped around the cloth to hold it in place, the assembly is held inside the back of the muffler with two of the opposing mounted brackets with stainless allen head cap screws. I put about 50 miles on the RT since completing it and I'm very happy with the results, the decibel level is about 30 to 40% lower, the backfiring is practically non existent and it appears the low end torque has improved!

It sounds (no pun) like there was a pin hole allowing air in the pipes and it was detonating the unburnt fuel inside the mufflers.
None of these pictures are showing up for me so I went and looked at the BBCode and it is like 1 whole page of "jste,mcn>hdt/lsifyd" all jumboed together.
