Just took delivery of an Ayro 311 all electric autocycle/golf car/reverse trike, and something went horribly wrong at only around 20 miles on the speedo! And it had about 16 miles on it when I got it. All was fine for a few miles, and I even had it at top speed of 50, but shortly after that, there was a horrible mechanical sound, and then I lost all power. Something mechanically broke in motor or transmission. Would not respond to accelerator pedal at all in forward or reverse until I manually pushed it a little bit while in gear, and then horrible impacting/grinding sound resulted with accelerator pushed. They are picking it back up next week to have a look at it.

Sorry to hear about your vehicle problem, but it sounds like a mechanical gear or other drive train issue. Looks like a cool vehicle, keep us posted, good luck 👍

Thanks. I got it on Ebay, and there is still at least another one for sale on Ebay from same West Palm Beach dealer (floridagolfcars.com). List price is around $12K with audio system & backup camera, the "Buy It Now" price was $9995, but I haggled a lot for it and got it $8500 for anyone else interested.

Update! The dealer apparently contacted the factory, and determined it sounds like a bad motor, and factory is sending them a new one. They'll come get the 311 when it comes in, unless they decide to attempt to swap it out at my house (about an hour away from West Palm Beach dealership).

I'd bet they bring the new motor and all tools to do the job at your house or somewhere in town. The 2 hours round trip once is better than taking it to their homebase and back twice.

Well, it has been 2 full weeks since the breakdown and it is still broke in my garage. But I am making progress. Just spoke with someone in Service Dept. @ AYRO, & I believe things will finally get moving now. Seems the dealer is dragging their feet. Further update coming hopefully soon.

Sales departments are many times shot dead (not physically) by the Service departments laziness. A good General Manager will kick some booty when this happens. If you go on Facebook, go post this whole story at the Reverse Trike group.
Then, let the Service manager and General manager over at Ayro know of the links to here and Facebook.
One thing far far worse than NO publicity is BAD SERVICE publicity.

YET ANOTHER UPDATE:
I'm dealing with both the dealer (who is dragging their feet and AYRO). Turns out that the dealer bought the unit "on the cheap" with NO manufacturer's warranty!!! I never heard of buying ANYTHING brand new w/o ANY manufacturer's warranty. AYRO said the dealer is self-warrantying it. This explains why they are dragging their feet. But I have a copy of their Ebay ad which clearly says it has a 2 year, 6,000 mile warranty, and I'll hold them to it. The only potential problem, is I can only go to them for repairs under warranty, and they are an hour away, and in the unlikely event we moved away, it would be impractical to have them repair it.
The AYRO guy called me Friday & said he spoke with the dealer, and the dealer would be calling me to pick it up. He also said to call him back, if they don't call me by end of day Monday. I fully expected to have to call him back Tues. A.M., but I was pleasantly surprised when the dealer called a short time afterwards. But still, they can't come any sooner than Wednesday - better late than never.

This is where Yelp! and Facebook reviews make or break a company. I would not give AYRO a bad review but the reselling dealer I would hammer if they don't make it right. Also I'd file a BBB complaint.

Update: Well three weeks after breakdown down, they finally agree to pick up unit, but not until 4 days after that. Now 4+ weeks later, they say they think the problem is a bad potentiometer (I assume they mean throttle position sensor), and supposedly today a new one is on order. So hopefully by late next week at the latest I FINALLY get it back & it is working.
BTW: I've never heard of a TPS suddenly just quitting. They've always just worn out & become noisy/erratic. I hope they are correct.

Well they should have a 2nd part by now (a "controller"). I am now approaching 2 months since my initial 4 mile ride and subsequent breakdown.

Well they should have a 2nd part by now (a "controller"). I am now approaching 2 months since my initial 4 mile ride and subsequent breakdown. Latest update: The shop installed the new controller, and it works, but not 100%!!! They believes that the controller just needs to be reprogrammed for the vehicle. I suspect it is actually programmed for the 411 box truck, a much higher production and successful commercial mini box truck, which has exact same motor, but is governed to 25 MPH. In the meantime, talking with the factory in Austin, they've discontinued making the 311!!! So they had a very short production run in 2018 and 2019. So I pretty much have a custom vehicle! The good news, is the the 311 and 411 likely have all the same power train and electronic components, so I (hopefully) should not be out of luck if I have a future breakdown. The 411:

This has always been a major issue with bespoke products. Where to get replacement parts at 7 PM on Friday???
The main reason I did not buy a MEV Eco/Exo was its special non standard front suspension being made in England. The 2-6 weeks for a new part to be made and shipped. Then the manufacture just crapped the bed and there are only 12 total trikes in the WHOLE world and NO spare parts.

After all, 311 means 3 wheeler & 11 HP, and 411 means 4 wheeler & 11 HP, so much in common.

Update!!! Well, 3 months have gone by since my 4 mile trip & breakdown. The latest is yesterday, I actually went down to dealer in WPB (about an hour away), and I gave then an ultimatum: either give me a FULL refund, exchange for another brand new unit within ten (10) business days, or I file a complaint with the BBB, contact my lawyer, & make reports to Yelp, ripoffreport.com, etc., etc. Well today I called them for a response to their ultimatum, they said they ordered a new motor. Hopefully this does the trick!

Can you "Lemon Law" the trike in Florida?

Can you "Lemon Law" the trike in Florida? The Law does not apply to golf cars, autocycles or motorcycles. It could equally be called a golf car or autocycle, but VIN labels says "MOTORCYCLE".

To me their solution is not acceptable. I would let them fix this issue and then hit them with the reviews on Yelp! and other places.
90 days is not good and they should not be rewarded with good feed back.

I will, once I get it back and it is working. I don't want to alienate them whilst they have my unit.

Yet another update! I'm exhausted. Oh, come on! Now the latest is the Ayro is going back to factory in Texas for repair!!! We had the exact same thing happen with our 1st RV trailer going back to Indiana about 5 years ago. Apparently a conversation between factory and dealer determined such an action is prudent, just like the (many) problems we had with our Winnebago 5th wheel.

Approaching around the 10th change of plan to get me back on the road, it seems! Now the latest is that the dealer will exchange my defective Ayro 311 for another brand new one. They are working with Ayro Corporate (paperwork-wise) to make that happen. Apparently Registrations are in Ayro Corporate's name, so paperwork is a bit of a clusterSex4two, as they are getting back the old unit returning to their custody. I'm extending my patience to this latest iteration to getting back on the road.
