Well as of 5 days ago i have lost everything on my computer. The hard drive failed on my old HP envy 700-249 comp. I cannot access any data on the drive. I lost a lot of files simply because i had partitioned the drive into 2 equal 1 terabyte partitions. It didn't help cause the whole drive is dead. I did not lose everything because i have been making backups on DVD disks for many years. But the last 2 years i quit using DVD's because some i could not read when i tried running them. The comp was 8 years old but it has kept on running until now. I estimate i lost around 120 gig's of the 447 Gig's that was on the drive. So now i have a HP Envy TE01 Desktop. i7 cpu, 500 Gig SSD drive. I bought a second WD blue500 Gig SSD and installed it so i can put most of my data on that drive. My computer guru says SSD drives are guaranteed for 10 years to not fail( no moving parts to fail), and i hope hes right. I also must learn how to run Windows 10 now and it's a little slow going until i get the hang of it. It is a lot faster than my old windows 8.1 comp. Guess i have a few months of putting data from the DVD's to the second SSD drive. It took me this long just to get back to this forum since i didn't have the info to get here until i found a DVD that backed up all my internet websites. Glad i got back here.

Yes Dave, i have already run into problems with DVD's that i copied pictures i took with my camera. Windows won't let me copy them to my secondary drive. I'm looking on the internet for fixes for this problem.

I would pay a subscription service to a private vendor to provide updates to Windows 7 if Micro(manage)Soft would sell the Win7 Operating System to a Vendor.
I really HATE Win 10.

My wifes laptop is still Win 7. I am on Win 10 but will stick with it as much as I hate how invasive MS is. Win 10 is said to record every Key stroke and reports it to MS, this includes your passwords to your $200,000,000.00 IRA account.

Well, i am somewhat happier now than i was a few days ago. What happened was i have been loading as many CD's and DVD's that the computer can read to my secondary WD Blue 500GB 3D Nand SSD drive i bought and installed in my new HP comp. While looking thru the disks i noticed i had 3 Sandisk 32gig flash drives in the box, so i started looking thru them too. What i found on the 3rd drive was every file on Reverse Trikes i have saved for many years and put on the sandisk drive. So now i have everything back again. Guess this forum was meant to be for me. 12000 files in my reverse trikes folder, 2.6 gigs.

Glad this worked out OK, I never realized what I backed up on DVD or put on old flash drives until I cleaned up my desk area!

I am beginning to like Win 10 a bit more lately. I like that i don't have to eject media before unplugging a flash drive. I have turned off Cortana, Sticky Keys, windows mail, One Drive, Notifications, Diagnostics & Feedback( I allow "Basic Data only), and the Edge browser. The system now seems more like my win 8 comp. Now i need just a few more Mods to fix to be happy. One of these is when i am adding pictures to a folder( like the reverse trike folder) windows sometimes just opens a different folder than the one i was using. That makes me go into file explorer and reopen the folder i was using then repaste the picture, very annoying. I'll keep working on it. If anyone wants the web links i found to do what i have done to windows, send me a message and i can text the links to your email( please add your email to the message). Links i have tried using but did not work i do not keep on my comp except in a "bad files" text file for my own information.
