I do think this trike will be mass produced. It has the right equipment to be a good urban vehicle. While the cost is near what a lower priced factory automobile is it does have advantages. What stop's me from being overly interested is the price and the turning circle of the vehicle. You really need to be dedicated to electric power to pay their price. Although they say $11,900 i think the price will be around $20,000 when production really gets going. A turning circle of 27 feet means it will take you 3 traffic lanes to turn around. My Toyota Rav4 can turn around in 2 lanes(18 feet). So i wonder about the turning radius. Here,s what the Arcimoto website says(unneeded content removed by me). SRK is a tandem two seater with front wheel drive. The Arcimoto SRK will feature individual 30 kW AC induction motors for each of the front wheels. Projected 0-60 performance for the 1,023 lb trike is 7.5 seconds, with a top speed of 85 mph. Handling is said to be “nimble”. Turning circle is a tight 27 feet. Range with the standard 12kWh battery pack will be 70 miles — though a larger, 20 kWh pack will be an option. Like Tesla, Arcimoto is using standard 18650 form factor Li-Ion cells. www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2015/11/arcimoto-announces-production-plans-11900-electric-reverse-trike/ Only other thing is it ain't pretty, LOL Now, in 2019, it seems this trike won't be built since it seems that the elio (chassis base)is considered out of business.

I think it will sell but at the price point not to an average commuter. If they were to change over to a better battery than the 1,000 of 18650 batteries the weight to Kw will be better. Each one of those batteries have to have exterior packaging where a plate type batteries does not. Add up all that packaging and it is a lot of added weight.

They seem focused on going higher end instead of inner city specific. I think they could sell it for a lot less it they developed a model that topped out at 45 mph. It would be a great short range commuter and grocery getter.

It would be a great short range commuter and grocery getter. I got an Ayro 311 (AYRO.com/311) that tops out at 50 MPH and has up top a 50 mile range for $8500 on Ebay. There is still another one for sale there. With stereo and backup camera, the list price is around $12K. The BUY IT NOW price for the one on Ebay is $9995, but I haggled a lot, and got it for $8500. It has a 10.9 HP motor, but unfortunately lead acid batteries (six 12 volt). When time comes for new ones, I'm gonna upgrade to lithium. I did the same for a Club Car golf cart, and went from six 8 volt batteries weighing 64 pound each to one (1) 48V lithium that weighs only 26 pounds! Cart had dramatic weight reduction, batteries PLUS new charger cost considerably less than new lead batteries, battery life increases from 3-4 years to 7-10. A win-win-win.
