This is the Human powered reverse / tadpole trike I build from an old 10 speed and 20” bike parts. About 10 years ago they converted the old abandon rail road to nice paved 25 mile biking path. Soon after I began using it I came across several recombinant reverse biking trikes. When I spoke to several owners I found out they were expensive ($2500 plus) and they tended to lift a front wheel going fast around a turn.
This inspired me to take some old bikes and design a special leaning design human powered reverse trike that was much less expensive to build and allows your body weight to shift during turns thus preventing front wheel lift. I ended up taking it one step further and incorporated into the steering linkage a lean steer mode that turned the wheels proportionate to the amount of lean you make. Two adjustable centering springs brought the trike back to upright position when you simply wanted to go straight. I also used the rear suspension spring as a shock for the rear wheel. Two things I didn’t budget for were an aluminum frame and disc brakes, so thin wall steel tubing and caliper brakes had to do!
