Well, i finally had to go get my motorcycle endorsement on my drivers license because of my ryker. It's a long story about a neighbor who is a cop that wanted to see the trike. After i finished the course, i drove my ryker down to the driving school because the instructor wanted to see one. So we had a conversation something like this:
Me:So, because i drive a ryker i must have a motorcycle endorsement.
Instructor: Yes
Me: So why did i have to learn how to slow ride while leaning for 2 consecutive turns within a 30 ft square?
Instructor: because that is what the rules are.
Me:So why do i have to learn how to quick stop a motorcycle after a 25 MPH speedup.
Instructor: because it may save your life.
This kept on until i told him that i do not shift gears, the trike does not Lean, That it hard to do any kind of u-turn on a street with a 30 ft turning radius, I have only 1 brake pedal at my footpeg for all 3 brakes, no clutch at all, and i never have to put my feet down on the pavement.
Finally he said the right thing.
Instructor: i know this course is useless for you. BUT, Fla law says your trike is a motorcycle, and these 250 cc bikes are the only way i can teach non-motorcycle new riders to not kill themselves immediately after buying a bike. There are not enough new riders to have separate courses other than motorcycles. You have to have a MC endorsement to ride so this is what you have to do.
The funny thing is i have been riding motorcycles for 50 years and may have dropped them a few times, been run off the road a few times(once on purpose), but never been in a wreck. 20 years ago they started the endorsement requirement, but i ignored it and never got stopped. I guess i am either a lucky man or maybe old enough to not try doing the stunt's i see the younger riders do(maybe both).
