My wife and i decided to go to the Disney floridian resort for our 25th anniversary. We are DVC members so we go quite often for 1 or 2 day get-a-ways. This one did not exactly turn out as planned. We were about 2 miles away from disney when this happened. Yes, we got rearended by a young guy in a ford ranger pickup. The good thing is we are both unharmed, and we went on and rented a car and did everything we wanted to do at Disney for 2 days. The other driver was at fault and had progressive Ins. Progressive paid for our rental car until it is decided to repair it or total the car. The shop the car was towed to said they think progressive won't take the chance that the unibody is twisted or bent and will total it. So it looks like my wife will get a new car. The progressive rep mentioned if the car was totaled the replacement cost would be $13,300. we have found a 2016 chevy malibu LT with 23,000 miles on it, out the door for $16,033. So if we get the money fast enough, maybe the car will still be there. We have never been in a bad accident, just a fender bender and hitting a deer a glancing blow. This shook me up for a little while but i think just because i was just nervous about it. I'm beginning to wish i didn't have to drive a car anywhere anymore. I'm getting tired of all the poor drivers i see every day. OK, rant over, LOL

Hey, a few taps of a hammer and a little 'Back to Black', GOOD as NEW. What you don't want to think is, "What would my Ryker look like after that". OK, now your thinking about, it sorry.

Dave, the answer for that is i would not be thinking at all. Pretty much it would mean you would be the only admin for this forum. I am just glad we were not hurt and life continues on. I do try to enjoy life every day and i am happy with everything i do. I just have to keep the pesky harmful people away from me and i know it is impossible. So i do the best that i can. Hey, after 7 years of a toyota i never liked much, maybe a new driving experience in a new car will be nice. The good thing is i am going to spend a lot more time working on my trikes now.

Well, just take it easy. You will be getting the NIDA or Kelly Blue Book value for your car and you should also get some for 'Pain and Suffering'. Never leave anything laying on the table. His insurance company is one of the more trustworthy Ins companies but their job is NOT to have to pay out.
But like on most other forums, I warn members to not say too much as Insurance Companies have MANY teams to scourer Forums and Facebook looking for small bits of information to use against you.

Glad you're OK Jim, I remember when I took my motorcycle endorsement course back in 2010 they emphasized to always look for a space to pull away. This included the sidewalk, up the curb or what ever and always look in your rear view mirror when stopped ready for an evasive direction as necessary. I realize that I am not practicing this enough lately, now I will. At least you'll get a newer car out of this 😉

Yes, we got rearended by a young guy in a ford ranger pickup. Wow, he hit you so hard it messed up the letters on your license plate.
Sorry, I'll see myself out.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply. While we were waiting for the insurance company to replace the toyota, we found a 2016 chevy malibu that my wife liked ( Hot Red color)so we ended up paying $4000 of the $18,000 cost for it.The insurance company paid the other $14,000 on the car. The only problem i had was the camry cost us $30,000 new in 2012. What they paid us was the cost of our payments still of the camry. I thought we should have been paid $20,000 because a new replacement camry was priced at $34,000.
